Ah yes, life in the rich technicolor of a web driven world.

So my belief is let the past be in the past. Silly Lion King just popped into my mind. If it was good, you would still be with them… and it wouldn’t be the past but your present, and future.

The only relationships that I can see a difficulty with your questions above is when your dealing with a widow/widower.

1) No
2) No
3) Didn’t have too, I’m such a self-evaluator, that I can see the trainwreck coming for miles. By the end, I’m only reading what I’ve already known… bleh
4) I would say yes, until the relationship became something real, then it depends on how weak you are, and how much you want to hold onto the past… ;)
5)Depends on what stage we are in the relationship. I wouldn’t want them too, if I wasn’t 100% sure, that I’m ready to reach that commitment.

Most of my e-mails were on school accounts which got cancelled, so I don’t have them anymore. I even lost a bunch that were from Jake that way, since we were in school when we met.

However, mostly I deleted those few things that I did have after the relationship ended. I also threw away any paper letters or cards. Really the big thing is that I don’t tend to keep stuff like that…I would get rid of a lot of things that we have at our house that are from our current relationship but Jake keeps EVERYTHING from FOREVER and while I don’t see the point…I also see that it’s a big deal to him so I’m fine with it :-)

I did hang on to a great e-mail that Lance sent me a few years after we broke up, in which he enumerated many of the ways in which I am amazing and apologized for the way he acted around our breakup.
