Steve — Yes, I know that it’s the rare teen who wants to talk with a parent about his/her love life. As for the car, he’s got the job, he’s got savings ….

Dads — You’re getting by with the “occasional” wallet thing? With a girl? You are a lucky dad, indeed!

Wombat — Well, as long as she doesn’t make me wear some rhinestone-laden spring green chiffon disaster at the wedding or rehearsal dinner, I’ll be fine with everything …

I am so not ready for this! If you like her, that must be good though, and he’ll come around.

My daughter is 15 and hasn’t shown any interest in dating. I ask questions, but usually get the “eye rolling.”

Sometimes I wonder if its because I married my high school sweetheart and she is thinking her first boyfriend will be her last?

Ah…the teen years…oh, I forgot this wasn’t about my teen years…its about teen years for the teen’s parent. Yeah, I had teen sons, two of them…so there were a lot of girls. Older son’s girlfriends were more like stalkers (according to him) but younger son’s experiences more like good old dad’s.

OK, now that were on my experiences as a teen…I’d say: get lots of education for the lad (yours) and enlist his dad in this project (that’s a stealth project—obviously). And as for car–depends on how soon you want grandchildren. Back in my day there were bench front seats…an ill-conceived (literally) idea if there ever was one. But education is your best bet. Young women are smarter than they once were…lots of sex info on the internet…

When I was a teen my parents were not of any use when it came to sex education or advice…wish they had been…my life would have been different in so many ways. Not that I would change it if I could. Cheers!
