Private ADHD Titration

There is currently a nationwide shortage of medication to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due both to manufacturing issues and an increase in demand worldwide.

Our service can offer private ADHD testing as an alternative to waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessments cost include the cost of one prescription.

Titration

A thorough assessment of your ADHD symptoms will be conducted with a highly experienced consultant Psychiatrist. This includes a complete medical history and an assessment using the standard ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.

After your evaluation You will be advised whether medication is appropriate for your particular situation. This will be discussed during your follow-up appointment (which could be in person, via video link, or over the phone). Your doctor will explain what medication options are available and if you decide to start on medication we will recommend titrating the dose to optimise the balance of benefits and side effects for you.

This is a process which could take a few weeks, and involves adjusting the dosage of your child's medication gradually until the appropriate balance is reached. It's not uncommon to have to titrate up to three different medicines before you find the one that is most suitable for your child's ADHD. It is crucial that parents are involved in the titration and be aware of their child's behavior so they can inform doctors if the medication is helping or causing adverse reactions.

If you decide to go back to NHS treatment, you will receive an individual prescription for your medication. You will have to pay at the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation fee. You must keep up with your appointments every six months to monitor your medications. This includes the measurement of pulse and blood pressure. Annual checks are also required.

Follow-up appointments

After the evaluation is completed, you can schedule follow-up appointments with the psychiatrist. Usually the appointment will take place through a video call using zoom, although in certain cases it may be possible to have an audio-only consultation (again at an additional cost).

At this point we will discuss any treatment options we have and agree upon a bespoke individualised ADHD medication titration strategy. This will include a review of your medication dosage as well as a discussion of any possible side effects you might be experiencing. The titration sessions cost PS150 for face-to-face sessions, and PS60 via video or telephone consultation. Medication costs are additional and are paid directly to the pharmacy.
