Mini Cooper Key Fob Troubleshooting Tips

A Mini Cooper is a unique car that has a classic design and incredible handling. It's not without faults.

The most common problem is a key fob that's not working properly. This can result in costly trips to the dealer, but you can fix it yourself.

Remote Mirror Control

One of the most useful features that the MINI Cooper key fob comes with is the ability to remotely control your vehicle's exterior features like the mirrors as well as the sunroof and roll up windows. This is an enormous convenience for many drivers, particularly when they're in tight spaces.

The remote mirror control feature allows the driver to press the lock button on their key fob to fold their side-view mirrors. They can also use the same button to fold them once more. It is likely that your vehicle's switch is malfunctioning if you're experiencing issues with this function. A local ASE certified technician can examine the switch to determine if it is in need to be replaced.

Some drivers have reported that the side mirrors of their vehicle can be adjusted from top to bottom but not the other way around. This indicates that the mirror control switch has likely been affected by a glitch. It could be caused by a faulty master switch or a defective slave switch, or an issue with the electrical relay which transmits the signal needed to control the mirrors.

Fortunately, your local ASE-certified mechanic at your location can solve this issue with a simple and inexpensive fix. The solution is to replace the control switch for the mirror replaced. This will fix the problem and let you enjoy the exterior features of your car without having to worry about someone else stealing your car.

Remote Start

A standard MINI Cooper key fob has a battery that gets charged when it is inserted into the ignition lock when you drive. It is recommended to check the battery's status at least twice a year. If the battery is in poor condition then you must replace it as detailed in this article.

Many cars are equipped with remote starters that allow you to start your car from a distance. This is very useful in winter when you have to warm up your car before leaving for work, and it will also allow you to heat or cool down the interior.

If you own a MINI with Comfort Access and Comfort Access, it is possible to use your key fob to start the ventilation system. This is a bit different than remote start but it can be useful if you're running late on your way to the office in St Louis Park or traget_city.

Compustar offers a kit which will allow you to install the remote start feature to your MINI. These kits utilize standard connectors that eliminate unnecessary wire cuts and helps to ensure the integrity of your vehicle's internal wiring. This kit is only available on certain MINI Cooper models and years. It comes with two remotes for start and 2-way remote transmitters. Contact a local Arctic Start retailer for pricing and installation.

Acoustic Lock Confirmation

BMW comfort access has a feature which helps you to be aware that your vehicle is secure even if you cannot see it. It's the audio lock confirmation, and it's an unobtrusive sound that tells you your car is locked and that the trunk has been closed. It's a great way to have peace of mind when you leave your vehicle in a parking space that you don't know or if you're leaving your car in a parked area for any length of time.

My wife has a 2022 Cooper S 5-door and would like to include an Acoustical lock/unlock confirmation. Can I code this? If so, would you suggest an Piezo siren/buzzer to use?

Thanks! https://www.thekeylab.co.uk/mini-car-keys/ provides a USB coding solution to activate the acoustic locking verification function on your BMW. It's a low-cost, easy to install feature that will notify you when your car is locked or unlocked to ensure that your BMW is secure. Click here for more information.
