National Safe Work Month is an opportunity to raise awareness of work health and safety issues, as well as improve workplace safety and procedures. It is held each October.

The campaign is run by Safe Work Australia, a national policy agency for workers' compensation. Each year, the campaign focuses on different health and safety topics. This year's theme is "Know Safety, Work Safely."

During the month, there are a number of events that promote safety and workplace wellbeing. For instance, the University of Melbourne has arranged various events. One of these is an indoor air quality monitoring workshop. Another is a free BBQ, hosted by the Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team.

Safe Work Australia has put together a detailed campaign plan. They provide resources to assist with workplace safety and have developed a set of social media accounts. These can be a great way to keep updated with events. There is also a comprehensive campaign kit available to download.

NT WorkSafe? has launched a campaign to educate the public about electrical safety. https://maps.app.goo.gl/MHxvtbUCTkeCeFN28 The campaign is a response to a large number of serious electrical safety incidents in the Northern Territory over the last few years.

A safe workplace promotes positive work health and creates a more productive and healthy working environment. Creating a culture of safety in the workplace has a direct flow on effect across the entire company.

The campaign will feature a story called Don't Work Live - Mark and Belinda's Story. The story illustrates the impact of a workplace incident on two NT electrical workers.
